Yahara Chocolate & Tea
Est 2017
Our Story
A chocolate lover's passion project turned downtown Stoughton's home for fine chocolate, tea, coffee, and pottery.
Brook Johnson · Owner & Founder
In my search to taste the widest variety of dark chocolate I could find, I had been spending hundreds of dollars a year buying chocolate to enjoy.
Along the way, there were some chocolates I wanted to taste but couldn't find — until I came across a chocolate importer who carried just what I was looking for. The only way I could buy from this importer was to become a chocolate seller myself.
And so, Yahara Chocolate came to be.
My other passion is pottery. Most days you'll find me creating and teaching in my studio, Green Road Pottery, where Yahara Chocolate now shares space.
What began as one chocolate lover's search for the perfect bar became a shop built entirely on passion.

What We're About
Chocolate, Curated
We seek out the widest variety of fine chocolate from around the world — including bars you simply can't find anywhere else.
Made by Hand
Sharing space with Green Road Pottery, our shop is rooted in craft, creativity, and the joy of making something by hand.
Community First
We're proud to be part of downtown Stoughton's arts and entertainment district — a welcoming place to gather, sip, and savor.
Coffee, Tea & Café
Beyond chocolate, we've become a cozy spot to slow down and stay awhile. We now serve coffee — including espresso drinks — powered by Wonderstate Coffee, alongside our curated selection of teas from around the world.
Whether you're catching up with a friend, exploring a new single-origin bar, or joining one of our Saturday tea gatherings, there's always a warm welcome (and something delicious) waiting.

Come Visit Us
We're located just 40 feet from the Yahara River, which runs through the arts and entertainment district in downtown Stoughton, Wisconsin — only 20 minutes south of Madison.
You'll find us on the south side of Main Street, between the Norwegian Heritage Center and Water Street. The Stoughton Opera House is just a four-block walk away.
Stop in, say hello, and taste a bit of chocolate next time you're in town. We'd love to see you! 🍫
