Yahara Chocolate & Tea makes dark, milk, and oat chocolates using organic and Wisconsin ingredients like Organic Valley milk, Door County cherries, and oats from Heartland Craft Grains in Lodi. The cacao is organic and sourced from Kahkow in the Dominican Republic.
Brook Johnson started Yahara Chocolate & Tea in 2017 with a knowledge of fine chocolate but not the awareness of the cultural and economic impact chocolate has on the world. He now ensures that every bar carries the stories of the planters, harvesters, and chocolatiers that have contributed to the chocolate’s journey to the final consumer. Each bar is impressed with all the hands that have touched it, and Brook wants to share this knowledge with the community.
As a seller of goods, Yahara Chocolate & Tea takes responsibility for every sold item by accepting back every wrapper, bag, or foil that we sell. Recyclables are recycled with municipal recycling, compostables are composted at Yahara Chocolate & Tea’s industrial style hot composter, and we pay Terracycle to recycle everything else.
Education is at the core of everything Yahara Chocolate & Tea does. Every Saturday, we offer free samples and tell the stories of 4 chocolates. We host talks that explore the history, taste, and culture of chocolate. Most importantly, we provide a direct connection to the farmers that grow and harvest cacao for all of us.
